First Smart City scientific research assistant, Bucharest

The first specialist in the Smart City research and development system was certified last week by awarding the degree of scientific research assistant to Furdu Constantin, inspector at the City Hall.

The competition, judged by specialists from Romanian Academy and UTCB and General Manager BERCĂ Valentin – BRK Systems SRL, represents a first recognition of the research efforts in an increasingly visible field in Romania, respectively, of intelligent cities.

Being the first trainer in “Intelligent Urban Infrastructure Management”  Mr. Furdu has argued in front of the contest committee an analysis of how Smart City strategies can help reduce factors that contribute to environmental degradation. In the sustained thesis “Smart City – Solution for the Integration of Sustainable Development Objectives”, the role of information and communication technology in urban development processes and the need to use the Internet and mobile technology in order to achieve specific sustainable development objectives was highlighted.

Smart City is a concept of modern development of localities and communities and includes the implementation of know-how, technology and the Internet in infrastructures, to improve urban management. By using sensors and real-time monitoring systems, data is collected that are analyzed and processed to provide both management solutions and the development of new data-based services.
